Emmanuel has traveled many roads in his short life.
Born in Haiti, he grew up in Canada, Connecticut and Brooklyn, eventually moving to Boston. He describes his home life as normal. “I came from a very loving family, a very close family. My parents and brothers and sisters loved each other very much. I just made really bad choices.”
After his parents decided to return to their native country of Haiti, Emmanuel stayed to live with his sister in Boston. After a few months, an argument with his brother-in-law forced Emmanuel out of the house. He found himself alone and confused, going |

from shelter to shelter and hoping that each day would be better than the last.
It was a chance encounter with a young artist at a shelter that introduced Emmanuel to Bridge. He decided to see for himself what Bridge could offer him. He’s now working to complete his GED and plans to go to college for Criminal Justice or Business.
“Bridge is the place to be. Every single person there cares. If you want to change, they’ll help you. I changed 360 degrees.” |
