BRIDGE OUTREACH

Outreach Workers
Street Outreach Workers spend their evenings where you are, accompanied by our Medical Van. Kristyn, Sarcia and Josh will take time to get to know you and your struggles. They offer a friendly connection, free medical care and information about places that can help you get off the streets.
If you’re under 17, we encourage you to meet with our adolescent counselors at Bridge, who can help you reconnect with your family and return home if you’re living on the streets, or connect with other services that can help you. If you’re over 17 and under 25, you can come to Bridge to take a shower and do your laundry, and meet with a supportive counselor who can help you develop a survival plan, resolve personal and family issues, and get help if you need it for substance and alcohol abuse. When you’re ready, we’ll connect you with additional programs and services that can help put you on the path to self-sufficiency. |

Our Street Survival Guide is distributed by our Outreach Workers and contains a comprehensive list of shelters, food pantries, hotlines, medical centers and drug and alcohol treatment centers in the Boston area. |

The Medical Van
The cornerstone of our outreach program is the “Bridge Van,” a familiar site in Boston and Cambridge. Maybe you’ve seen it at one of its scheduled stops at Park Street Station, Copley Square, Harvard Square or Dudley Station. It’s out there five nights a week providing checkups, first aid and a friendly, casual atmosphere. If you visit, you’ll be treated with respect and dignity, and your information will be kept strictly confidential.
Even if you don’t need medical help, you can visit the Van anytime just to talk, have a cup of hot chocolate or lemonade, and relax for a few minutes. Our door is always open, and you will be welcomed by caring volunteer nurses and doctors from the Boston area.
If you are a health care provider interested in volunteering on the Van once a month, click here. |
